Maya Taylor's focus is connecting the worlds of contemporary dance, high fashion, and pop culture through her choreography for music videos, tv/film, and stage.
Clients of her movement include Arcade Fire (SNL), St. Vincent (The Ellen Show) and Solange Knowles (Dance Coordinator for her live tour and performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Scales (Marfa), and for Don't Touch My Hair and Cranes). She has been featured in music videos for One Republic, Wolf Gang, Generationals, and Sweet Crude. Maya's choreography can also be seen throughout Season 1 of the TNT drama, CLAWS.
Raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Maya studied classical ballet for many years before diving into contemporary, classical modern, jazz, hip hop, and improvisation. She studied at Ballet West Conservatory, The Ailey School, Jacob’s Pillow and is a graduate of the Ailey/Fordham BFA program. Shortly after receiving her degree, Maya joined Elisa Monte Dance and for several years performed throughout the United States and Europe.
Maya has been commissioned to teach and create new works for Let's Dance International Frontiers, Perry Mansfield Performing Arts, Harvest Dance Chicago Contemporary Festival, Schramel Conservatory of Dance, Creighton University, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Regional Dance America, Omaha Performing Arts and Marigny Opera Ballet. Her work, One Thousand and One has also been featured in DANCE Magazine.
